Thank you for your interest in our new website located at uvaldealumni.com.  We took two years to work through this project and make the site user friendly.  Our first notice of change was November 2010.  In December 2011 we posted a second notice of a deadline change of January 31, 2012.

There are some areas where we continue to work on improvements.  A few viewers have indicated to us specific areas that need to be addressed.  Thank you for being specific and understanding.   Those considerations are underway.

3. Please consider this an opportunity to “sort” through your class site and revise or delete or add – basically clean up the pages on your new site.

The UHSAA Board decided not to have a link for “Memorials”, “Obituaries”, “Veterans”, and “Teachers”. It was felt that each class should be responsible for these links as it pertains to its class. For example, if you want to remember teachers in a special way just include it on your class pages.

Recently, the Uvalde High School Alumni Association Board of Directors voted to make changes to our website. We have begun work toward a more unique, stylish and usable design for the web.  What you looking at now is the new website.  Though not completed, we have made good progress and continue to improve the site.

UHSAA’s website serves as an information hub for members, prospective members, current UCISD students, and the Uvalde community as a whole. We are working to be of service to you.

Qualifications for Leader of the Pack nominees are:

1. Graduate of UHS and must be at least 15 years removed from graduation
2. Represent Uvalde in a positive light.
3. Highly recognized in their field.
4. Involved in civic and professional endeavors.

Entries may be submitted via email to coyotes@uhsalumni.com. Please include the name of the individual you wish to nominate, their class year, and why you think he or she deserves to be selected as the “Leader of the Pack.”

Nominations for the Distinguished UCISD Educator award are taken during the summer and are announced at the UHSAA Annual Meeting at Homecoming each year.

Qualifications for Distinguished UCISD Educator nominees are:

1. Graduate of UHS and must be at least 15 years removed from graduation and retired.
2. Represent Uvalde in a positive light.
3. Highly recognized in their field.

Denise Rabe has been accepted at The University of Texas at San Antonio, where she plans to work towards admission into medical school and go on to become a cardiologist. Denise was active as Coordinator in the UHS Student Council and in 4H where she placed first in district competition, was a member of the National Honor Society, played tennis, making first team all-district and received recognition doing volunteer work with Youth Group.

Samantha Rodriguez is on her way to Texas Tech University in Lubbock. Ranked 9th in her class, Samantha is pursuing a business degree in Economics and plans to go on to law school. She was active in Student Council and was a member of the National Honor Society, and ACA DEC also played a big part of Samantha’s UHS career. She was a cheer leader all four years and was an NCA All American and team Captain. Her activities also included FFA where she was 4th place in competition was a class officer.

Becci Grimm was awarded the Paul Alfred “Freddy” Edwards Scholarship. A very outgoing young lady, she loves to cook, and plans to be attending a Culinary Arts school in the near future. She was a member of AVID, the National Honor society 2007-2010, UHS Band all four years, played soccer and was team Captain her senior year, and was a member of Theater Group.
